What is the job about?
The team of Legal editors and Legal writers will share their knowledge through high-end essays that we will publish monthly on our website for the world to read and learn from. We cover a variety of hot legal topics. The main goal of the ongoing project is to increase the number of quality academic writings on legal topics, encourage young lawyers to participate in academic writing, and lay the foundation of an online database on legal science.
Your responsibilities:
- Proofreading: Legal editors must read several articles and be able to fix grammar mistakes and technical errors that their writers may have made. They will need to learn “General requirements and guidelines for articles”, as well as citation guidelines and be able to apply these guidelines to the articles.
- Researching and communicating: Legal editors and writers are paired based on their legal backgrounds. Legal editors should guide writers on the writing process, give feedback on their mistakes and give them deadlines for making relevant amendments. Legal editors must be available for their writers during the writing process to answer questions or doubts about the article’s content.
- Reporting: Legal editors are required to report to the LAWELS management on a weekly basis about the process of writing articles and difficulties that may arise. Reports should provide feedback about topics such as communication with their writers, constructive criticism on their pieces, and pointing out areas of improvement.
Legal editors are assigned between 2 and 5 writers, which equals a maximum of 5 articles per month that need to be edited, proofread and published.
